We’ve had a couple of student committee meetings and things are off to a great start for the 2012 Food For All grant partnership. We’re moving forward quickly with facility preparation. Here’s our volunteer schedule for working at our (use donated) 7.5 acres at Bethel Farm, 5602 Old National Pike, Frederick (Alt Rte. 40 between Blentlinger Rd. and Meadows Farms). More dates will be added:

Friday, March 23: 1 pm – 4 pm, Tuesday, April 10: 3 pm- 5 pm,  Saturday April 21: 9 am- 11 am Tuesday May 8: 3pm – 5 pm,  Tuesday may 22: 3 pm- 5 pm,  Tuesday June 5: harvesting TBA + school field trip, Tuesday July 10: 9 am- 11 am,  Tuesday July 24: 9 am- 11 am, Tuesday August 14: 9 am- 11 am,  Tuesday August 28: 3 pm – 5 pm, Tuesday September 11: 3 pm – 5 pm,  Tuesday October 9: 3 pm – 5 pm.

We’ve already started working on ideas to educate and engage our community in sustainable gardening practices. Our FFA Chapter has partnered with Michael Dickson, founder of Seed of Life Nurseries (and our FFA Landscape CDE coach) for this exciting learning experience and community outreach opportunity.
